Oh how life changes to quickly. Little ones grow up. Even though we wish they would stay little for ages. Take advantage of it. Play with balloons, eat the ice cream, lick the lollipop—cause some day the opportunity will be missed.
I am guilty of not being the most organized person in the world, my house can be a bit cluttered, but my photos are organized! If you asked me for a photo of a specific event I can put my hand on that quite quickly! I love the Power Sort Box for my photos, but it is also very handy when organizing scrapbooking supplies.
My life has been documented relentlessly since I was born. Sitting on a bookshelf, the blue scrapbooks have multiplied through the years as I have experienced more and more in life. From the big moments: the first day of kindergarten, starting high school, college acceptance letter, my grandma’s last Christmas, and moving to Philadelphia; to the trifling: vacations, school dances, sporting events, family reunions, and day trips; my life is neatly remembered in those growing blue books.
I like to think of my scrapbooks as more than just a collection of photos that highlight our family events but rather as my own personal diary that tells the story of my life. So I like to include mention of significant local and world events in my albums along with commentary of how the events impacted me and my family at the time. This expands my role from memory keeper to history keeper. Essentially my albums have become a snap shot of history in the making.
I’m not big on the whole New Year’s Resolution thing, but this year I’m going for it anyway! As a mama of two little ones I struggle to find a balance in life. I love my family and spending time with them, I also love a house that isn’t in complete chaos, I love baking, I love my hobbies… the list goes on. There’s a lot of love, but only so much time. It’s hard!
Balance is key, and I’m still in pursuit of it, but in the meantime I am going to work on priorities. On the top of that list is my family and the time we spend together – so, my New Year’s resolution is going to be to spend meaningful time together and create lasting memories. This means letting the dishes wait until the kids are in bed and choosing to build couch cushion forts instead. This means hiring a babysitter and going on date nights. This means being present in the moment – even if we are just walking home from school or shopping for groceries – memories can be made anywhere!
Oh my gosh–I love that I get to spend my day in my PJ’s! But, even more than that I love that I am getting to spend the day with all of YOU! It is YOU that inspires ME!
The wheels are always turning! Chocolate always helps too! I have my home-made vegan chocolate right here! What is your chocolate treat of choice?
CHALLENGE #4: Creative Journalling. Add journalling to your scrapbook layouts in a unique and creative way. It is always so important to journal. Keeping your memories alive isn’t just about the photos, but the story behind them, and unless you write them down–they get lost.
Share your layout on the Facebook Event page to be eligible for door prizes!
