Birthday Traditions

Hello creators! I am back with a birthday layout I created using the Sugarplum Designer Paper Pack, Designer Stickers, Variety Mat Pack, and Embellishments. Every year, no matter how old I get, my mommy makes me a birthday cake. Sometimes, we don’t get to celebrate my birthday with the family until the end of September, but that’s OK! I don’t know many people who would decline two birthday celebrations in one year. Do you? ūüôā

Since Edward was a year old, he’s been helping me blow my birthday candles out. Mom has taken a picture of the two of us blowing out my birthday candles together for the past 7 years. I love this tradition… This year, Edward was really excited because he helped make the cake and he requested Oreos and pink sprinkles to decorate the cake with exactly 39 miniature Oreos.

Lost In A Digital World

A few weeks ago upon arriving home for work, I did what I normally do-check the mailbox (of course, hoping that I got that check from Ed McMahon and Publisher’s Clearing House). ¬†It wasn’t there, but our small local newspaper was.

The Sauk Rapids Herald.

I perused it, looking at the local police happenings (small town) and outcome of our beloved “Storm” sports teams.

As I was reading there was a certain article that struck a chord with me.  I can relate to the thousands of undeveloped photographs in my phone, how about you?

Sugarplum and Vellum Holiday Layout

Have you used vellum on a layout?

I love how it softens the layout, and gives it a frosted look.

I had some older photos that this frosted vellum was the perfect match for.

You can add the vellum as mats or even as a larger piece to soften the whole layout.

How To Use Vellum!

Vellum is one of those incredible crafting mediums what when used properly can add so much to a simple layout or card. The trick with vellum is finding a way to adhere it to your project in a way that doesn’t show through the transparent paper. Once you’ve mastered the adhering, vellum can be used to add a layer of interest over a solid colour or pattern. Vellum is also great to use as a way of toning down, or muting a pattern so that either your photos or journaling can stand out and be the visual focus of the layout or card.

Let me show you some of my tricks as well as a layout and card that came together super quickly using vellum!

Countryside Comfort Scrapbooking Borders

Moving into a new home in a new city a few weeks ago, I was really excited, but I felt a bit out of my element, a little anxious. Stacks of boxes from floor to ceiling, furniture that didn’t fit the same way it did in our last home…it was overwhelming.

But little by little, one box at a time, one room at a time, our new house is taking shape. I’ve been appreciating the cosy nooks I’ve discovered, the way a framed picture looks in just the right spot…it feels like home. And my anxiousness is giving way to contentment.
