For those of you who have boys or girls who are into competitive sports, the new Go! Fight! Win! collection is a gold mine for all your sporting adventures.
But! If you’re like me, with children who love their dancing (or gymnastics, physie, acrobatics or other non-sport physical activity), you’re probably thinking how can I jazz up my Go! Fight! Win! pages to suit my photos?
The pretty, lace border technique we show you in today’s blog post should do the trick!
My girls have been dancing for almost 3 years and it’s so adorable to watch them perform their little hearts out. I’ve got countless photos from dancing school open days, in their costumes, performances and more. I’m always looking for inspiration for their dancing photos. In this layout I’ve used the Doily Border Punch to create a lacy border and Mix & Match Neutral Embellishments to add a feminine touch to the Go! Fight! Win! collection.
To create this page you’ll need:
- Go! Fight! Win! Paper Pack
- White Cardstock
- C’mon Aussie Stickers
- Mix & Match Neutral Embellishments
- Mint ABC/123 Stickers
- Black Dual-Tip Pen
- Gem Stone Custom Cutting System Templates & Blades
- Doily Border Punch
- Scallop Dot Border Maker Cartridge & Border Maker System
- 12-Inch Trimmer
- Repositionable Tape Runner
- Tape Runner
Use a sheet of the blue “ice” paper for the background. Punch a sheet of the light grey “jersey” material paper with the Scallop Dot Border Maker Cartridge, cut the border to measure 2 inches with your 12-inch Trimmer. Adhere the border to the bottom of the background paper.
Using the diamond shape in the Gemstones Custom Cutting System; cut the largest shape on the “jersey” paper. Next, find your other sheet of the “blue ice” paper in the paper pack and flip it over to the “water” design to trim the second-largest diamond shape. Select a photo that is printed at least 8″ x 5″ (or larger) and trim your photo at the third-largest diamond shape. Adhere the three diamond shapes together as shown.
Punch 4 doily border strips on White Cardstock, then with scissors, carefully snip the doily strip so there are 5 full doilies in one strip (set aside the scraps). Run Repositionable Tape Runner along the edges of the back side of the matted diamond photo and adhere the doily borders along the edge of the photo mat as shown. You’ll want the doilies at the top and bottom of the diamond to overlap and the doilies at the side to just touch at the edges. TIP: It was a little fiddly to get the angle right, which is why I loved using the Repositionable Tape Runner for this job!
Adhere the matted diamond photo with it’s new lace border to the centre of the page as shown with regular Tape Runner. Then, grab those doily border scraps you set aside earlier to adhere on the border at the bottom of the page.
Embellish the top left corner with flowers and gems from the Mix & Match Neutral Embellishments pack (flipping some flowers over to see the white side.) Adding stars from the C’mon Aussie sticker sheets.
I prefer to journal on scrap paper that I trim into strips, so that if I make an error I can always start again on a new scrap before placing it on my page. Adhere your journalling and titles to the right side of the page as shown, balancing out the spacing to fit around the diamond shape.
There you have it, a gorgeous page perfect for the star-performer/s in your household. We’d love to see how you use this lace border technique on your scrapbook pages and papercraft projects, share them on social media with the #creativememories tag 🙂
