How are your projects coming along? Did you make time for a chocolate break? If so, that means you have energy and are ready to keep going!
Colour palettes are always so fabulous to use when creating a layout.
Sometimes it means that I work within one paper collection, and other times it means that I pull pieces from several paper collections.
But, how do you know where to start?
With Christmas right around the corner, this combination jumped out at me, with the traditional colours.
CHALLENGE 5: Create a layout using this colour combination as inspiration. Once you have completed this challenge, please post an image of your layout to our Facebook Event Page so you are eligible for the prize for this challenge (before 6pm AEDT)!

Take a spare piece of 12×12 cardstock and sketch the outline of a tree (this could be any holiday shape) – you want to make sure that the tree takes up as much of the 12″x12″ space as possible. Use your All-Purpose Scissors to cut the tree out.
Using a variety of patterned papers from the A Year to Remember Paper Pack, cut 6 pieces to 3″ x 4″ and one piece to 4″ x 6″. Next you’ll arrange the rectangles over the tree shape until you get a “quilted” layout that you like best. Adhere your rectangles down to the tree and then flip the tree over and cut off any of the patterned paper that hangs over the edges. Once you’re done, if you’ve got edges of your tree peeking out, don’t worry, you can cover those with scraps. Make sure that the tree is entirely covered in patterned paper – you shouldn’t be able to see what colour cardstock you used to create the tree base.
Next, take your photos and trim them to have an equal border along all sides – adhere those down to the quilted mats you created.
Use the Bubble Border Cartridge to punch out small circles in various sizes that can be used to ‘string’ along your tree. Plan out where your ‘strings’ will go before adhering so that they don’t cut through any important part of your photos.
Choose a title out of the A Year to Remember Embellishment Pack.
Add journalling using a Brown Dual-Tip Pen and some Green Watercolor ABC/123 Stickers
Use the A Year to Remember Stickers to embellish as you see fit – I used the hearts and wrote the ages of my two little ones and then put their initial beside using the Green Watercolor ABC/123 Stickers.
To create the star for the top of your tree, simply sketch a star on the backside of the pattern you would like showing. Cut it out – and there you have it!
This colour combination is similar to that of our new Christmas Past Collection!
