December is a BIG month in so many ways. For most of the month much of Australia celebrates the holiday season. The memories and traditions are different for each of us. Some of us drink eggnog, while others sip cold drinks by the pool with the family.
How would you like to capture those memories and traditions this December for your family to look back on for many years to come?

Around Christmas families have all different traditions, customs and celebrations. One of my favourite things to do when preparing for Christmas is to put together a family advent calendar. It’s such a fun way of celebrating the season every day leading up to Christmas.
This year I used the absolutely beautiful, Christmas Past collection to create our Advent calendar and it turned out stunning! First I’ll walk you through how I made it and then I’ll share how I fill it.

Tara Dickinson is an Illustrator and Graphic Designer for Creative Memories, beer snob, kitty lover and can eat more pancakes and pizza in one sitting than you.
Going into her second semester at St. Cloud State University in 2007 Tara decided to make a seemingly impractical career choice and pursue a BFA in graphic arts. Her talents got her in the door with an internship in her final semester of college with CM. She was then officially hired on as a Graphic Designer and Illustrator in the spring of 2011. She then stayed onboard until 2013 (I think that was the year, I’m not good at math). After that Tara went on to work a short stint in Advertising. The agency was a great experience and she was able to expand her knowledge and skills, but she missed the creative freedom from her former illustrative job. Luckily for her she got an early Christmas gift and was called back to work for Creative Memories mid December of 2015.

Colour palettes are always so fabulous to use when creating a layout.
Sometimes it means that I work within one paper collection, and other times it means that I pull pieces from several paper collections.
But, how do you know where to start?
With Christmas right around the corner, this combination jumped out at me, with the traditional colours.

First and foremost—no need to get out of your jammies! Stay comfy and just make yourself a cup of tea/coffee, grab a few photos, along with some scrappy supplies! (Oh, and you will DEFINITELY need some chocolate!)
We will be hosting several challenges right here on the blog, and posting to the events page on Facebook!
(Please SAVE all of your scraps—you will need those for the final challenge!)
