Creative Cards Featuring Embellishments

Everyone loves to receive a card every now and then. From the everyday to special occasions there’s ideas here to spark your card-making creativity!

Basic supplies for all cards:

Happy 40th CardThank You Card and Happy Easter Card

Extra supplies for the 40th card:

How to make the 40th card:

  1. Trim white cardstock to 8” x 6”.  Score using the Multi-purpose Tool and fold in half so it measures 4” x 6”.
  2. Trim the “numbers” paper from A Year To Remember Paper Pack to 4″ x 6″ and adhere to the front of the card.
  3. Select embellishments and adhere to the card in position with Foam Squares. Trim the overhanging sections of pennant banner off with CM Scissors.
  4. Add the birthday age with ABC/123 Stickers and position 3 balloon stickers next to them.

Extra supplies for the Thank You card:

How to make the Thank You card:

  1. Trim white cardstock to 8” x 6”.  Score using the Multi-purpose Tool and fold in half so it measures 4” x 6”.
  2. Trim off the green section on the “bicycles” card from A Change in Latitude Slide-In Pack and adhere to the front of the card.
  3. Punch a Medallion Frame Chain border with Raspberry Cardstock and adhere overlapping the bicycle paper. Adhere a larger flower with Tape Runner to the left side, layer a smaller flower on top with a Foam Square and finish with a gem sticker.
  4. Add “Thank You” with ABC/123 Stickers at the top of the card.

Extra supplies for the Happy Easter card:

How to make the Happy Easter card:

  1. Trim white cardstock to 8” x 6”.  Score using the Multi-purpose Tool and fold in half so it measures 4” x 6”.
  2. Crop 2 of the same sized ovals from the floral pattern paper, flip one over to the yellow side and cut in half with scissors. Trim a 3rd oval from the “green & white stripe” paper and using scissors cut out just one green stripe. Overlap all the pieces and adhere to the centre of the card as shown.
  3. Hand cut a scroll banner from the “border design” paper and adhere to the card as shown, writing Happy Easter on the banner.
  4. Add a selection of paper flowers to the bottom of the card, trimming of any overhanging sections with scissors. decorate with a few gem stickers and some doodling in Silver Pen.

Follow Your Dreams Card and Life is Beautiful Card by CM Advisor, Susan Dorrington

What you need:

How to make the Follow Your Dreams card:

  1. Trim white cardstock to 8” x 6”.  Fold in half so it measures 4” x 6”.
  2. Using the spotted paper from the Pretty in Pastel Paper Pack trim it to 3 ½” x 5 ½”.  Use the Corner Rounder on all four corners and attach with Tape Runner to the card, centering it on the front.
  3. To make the butterfly find the large Pink flower from the Pretty in Pastel embellishment pack and follow the diagram above.

How to make the Life Is Beautiful card:

  1. Trim brown cardstock to 8” x 6”.  Fold in half so it measures 4” x 6”.  Trim white cardstock to 2 ½” x 5 ½” and attach with Tape Runner about ¼” from the top and centre it horizontally.
  2. Trim the Life is Beautiful card from the Pretty in Pastel Slide in Pack to 2” x 4” and attach about ¼” from the top of the white card, but placed to the far left of the white card.
  3. Along the bottom of the white card, with tape runner attach 7 small flowers from the Pastel Embellishment pack.  Then place a few rhinestones in alternate flowers to complete.

Changing it up a little now, these cards featuring Look on the Bright Side products demonstrate you can use bright colours on a loving card.

Love Note Card and I (Heart) You Card by CM Advisor, Dayna Nelson

What you need:

How to make the Love Note card:

  1. Trim Raspberry cardstock to 9” x 6.5”.  Score using the Multi-purpose Tool and fold in half so it measures 4.4” x 6.5”.
  2. Adhere the ‘Hello’ slide-in vertical card centered on the front.
  3. Trim the raspberry design paper from the ‘Look on the Bright Side’ paper pack to 5.75cm x 7cm and the blue designer paper from the ‘Look on the Bright Side’ paper pack 5cm x 6.25cm, adhere these in the centre as shown.
  4. The ‘Love Note’ is from the ‘Bright’ Embellishments pack. Lightly sketch a heart with a pencil, being careful to make sure the top of the heart is as shown in the photo. Cut and erase leftover pencil marks. (Suggestion: Once you have your love note just right, make sure to cut an extra one to keep as a stencil for additional love notes in your future!)

How to make the I Heart You card:

  1. Trim Raspberry cardstock to 9” x 6.5”.  Score using the Multi-purpose Tool and fold in half so it measures 4.4” x 6.5”.
  2. With scissors, cut out the red dot with heart heart on it from the ‘Multi-colored polka dot’ slide-in horizontal card and adhere with a small Foam Square onto the same red dot on the vertical slide-in card.
  3. ‘I (HEART) YOU’ is made with 2 cuts on the ‘I (HEART) YOU’ vertical slide-in card. First, cut 1-inch off the top and set aside.
  4. Next, cut 1.5” off the top of the remaining green card, which should perfectly cut out your ‘I (HEART) YOU’ message necessary for the front of the card.
  5. Adhere the ‘I (HEART) YOU’ message on the front of the card, approximately 1-inch from the bottom of the card.
